November 7: Family
But regardless of updated photo or not… I am thankful for every one of these people in my life.
Geoff and I have been married 32 years – and dated for 36 (WOW!!) We epitomize the fact that opposites attract. He is an extravert – I am an introvert. He is scattered and spontaneous – I am routinized and scheduled. He is humorous, and I am serious. And yet we complete one another.
My three children are all responsible, independent (strong-willed) well-adjusted members of society. Truly what more could a mother ever hope for? I have transitioned from the role of disciplinarian parent to adult friend, and I like this new relationship. I enjoy going out for coffee or Chipotle and just chatting. All three children have found loving, caring, dedicated mates. Of course life is not perfect for any of us.. but life is good. I would not change a thing!
And then there is the princess. She has changed us all for the good. Her wide-eyed wonder at all of life has helped us to see the world from a new perspective. She finds joy in the everyday moments and teaches us to slow down and embrace the present. I resisted becoming a “grandma” but in reality, she has kept me young.
I have always loved fall and the holiday traditions, but they would mean nothing without family.
I am greatly blessed.
